Excluding or Redistributing an app
You can uninstall (exclude / redistribute) an app (only when the app is managed) from a device without changing the app distribution configuration. This can be done for in-house and public apps on iOS and macOS devices. If the unmanaged apps are excluded, then the app will not be uninstalled from device, but the excluded apps will NOT be listed in Apps@Work or App Catalog. You can find these options under the Actions column of the Available Apps section for all devices.
Permissions
You must have the following permissions to exclude or redistribute an application from / to a device:
- access device in space (partition)
- access available apps for the device
Exclude
When the Exclude operation is performed, the selected app will be uninstalled, and data associated with the app might be lost, like when an app is uninstalled. If the app excluded is a pre-requisite app, then it should follow the pre-requisite workflow. When the pre-requisite apps are excluded, a pop-up confirmation appears on the screen to indicate that you are excluding a pre-requisite app and it might result in the exclusion of the main app.
For in-house apps with several versions, when excluding an app, all versions of the app will get excluded (undistributed for that device). If an app is excluded, it will be removed from Apps@Work and Ivanti Go on the device. If an app is excluded and later deleted from the App Catalog and added again then it will not remain excluded for the device. When excluding an app from the device, it should be visible on the Device Details Available Apps list, so that the administrator can distribute it directly to the device after excluding it.
Distribute
When the administrator triggers the Send install command from the app, the app will not get installed until the administrator decides to distribute it from the device's Available Apps. A new message will appear for devices that don't get the app because it was excluded.
